Description

Originating in Native American cultures, specifically the Ojibwa Chippewa tribe, the Dreamcatcher has been used as a protective talisman for generations, to keep those sleeping safe from harmful dreams and nightmares. Native Americans believed that the air is filled with good and bad dreams and when hung above one’s bed where the morning sun can see it, Dreamcatchers can trap all dreams into their web-like structures. The center circle of the Dreamcatcher is said to be the heart where good and bad dreams are filtered so that the good ones may trickle down the feathers to comfort those who are sleeping while the bad ones are destroyed. Dreamcatchers have a deep connection with spiders. The Ojibwa word for Dreamcatcher is asabikehiinh, meaning spider which refers to its webbed center. If a Dreamcatcher has 8 points like the specific one pictured on this jar, it is said to represent the spider-woman spoken of in Native American legends. The circular shape of a Dreamcatcher symbolizes Mother Earth and the never ending cycle of life, the Moon and the Sun

Cast in designer resin, this round dome-like jewelry box is hand painted in purple and white. The pivotal design features the a dreamcatcher pattern and a beautiful gem in the center of the lid, and smaller gems throughout the dreamcatcher pattern. On the base of the box are images of feathers and more dreamcatchers wrapping around the box.

Made of hardened designer polyresin. Hand painted and polished individually.
