Ibis Jasper is a form of Brecciated Jasper that’s created over an extensive period of time. The jasper stone gets broken up by shifts in the earth, water, and various earth movements. After the earth breaks up the original jasper formations, a mixture of heat, pressure, and minerals (specifically quartz) reforms into a solid stone, with quartz acting as a “glue” that holds the broken pieces of jasper together.
Metaphysical & Spiritual History
Ibis Jasper is a newer stone, named after the Ibis bird which is often associated with the Egyptian god Thoth, god of wisdom, the moon, writing, and magic. This association leads Ibis Jasper to be a tool in accessing akashic records. Use in meditation or ritual to help attune to your divine self, receive messages from spirit, and absorb ancient knowledge.
Also known as Eggshell Jasper, the manner in which Ibis Jasper forms is a reflection of a similar process which humans emotionally, and sometimes physically, go through. After an intense breakdown, the task of putting the pieces together can be daunting. When you feel broken and in the dark, Ibis Jasper encourages you to overcome and trust in the path to know that, over time, healing will come. Use Ibis Jasper to ground and center yourself, mentally easing the stress and pain of past trauma. Remember that all pieces are part of the whole and it is possible and important to integrate these lessons back into your being to acknowledge all aspects of self. Jasper is a nurturing stone, so let it hold you during these times of rebuilding. Ibis Jasper will help you tap into your resiliency during a chaotic time.
Ibis Jasper is also thought to enhance creativity and word play, or writing. It will remove blocks in creative expression and can assist one to “put the pieces together”, a crucial ability in artistic endeavors. It guides you to think outside the box and see solutions with new eyes. It can also be used as a source of inspiration, as many report seeing different images in the beautiful formations of Ibis Jasper
