While Agate has the same chemical composition as Quartz, it has a microcrystalline structure, instead of forming whole crystals. Agate is a name given to a variety of banded chalcedony, a mineral of the quartz group. It is predominantly white, with layers of creamy browns, blacks and grays. Some may include layers of yellow ochre, gold, scarlet and red. Agate is sometimes called the earth rainbow because, in its various forms, the concentric bands in nature form nearly every color the earth can produce, including a colorless form.
An Enhydro is a small pocket in a crystal, carrying droplets of water, trapping it eternally. This water can be easily seen and felt; when you shake the stone, you can sometimes hear the water moving. If you hold a light to it, you can see the water bubbles.
