Jasper is a microcrystalline variety of quartz. The name jasper comes from the Greek word meaning “spotted stone” and they can include up to 20% foreign materials which account for its wide variety of colors and patterns.
Maligano Jasper forms in ancient volcano hot springs areas and is named for a small village in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Discovered less than ten years ago, around 2011-2012, there is only a small amount commercially available, due to the small size of the location it is found. As a variety of Brecciated Jasper, Maligano Jasper presents in a contrast of warm hues such as red, yellow, orange, and beige, with blues and greys. The “broken and healed” pattern reveals veins of grey-silver agate and is reminiscent of river patterns.
Metaphysical & Spiritual Properties
Jasper in general tend to have a slow-moving influence. They are gentle, nurturing and relaxing, bringing tranquility and healing. They are good for grounding and protection.
Maligano Jasper helps one to shed the layers of life that are no longer serving them. Holding onto these layers or any emotional, mental, or psychological attributes adds weight, in turn leading to negative thought patterns and bad habits. Working with Maligano Jasper helps to stabilize the aura and transform the spirit from within, often resulting in a “rebirth” effect. As one continues to shed layers, they will begin to question their surroundings and daily interactions to reveal what is hidden of others. Effectually, this will show you what benefits one receives in their current environment and support endurance and willpower in any situation.
