Citrine is a premier stone of manifestation, imagination, and personal will. Wearing and carrying Citrine is like having a positive force around, inspiring confidence and goodwill. It is said to help bring a sense of positivity and light into one’s life and to help banish negative thoughts and emotions.

Citrine is associated with the solar plexus chakra, our internal Sun, which is located just above the naval and is associated with self-confidence, personal power, and self-esteem. It is said to help stimulate the energy in this chakra and help to improve one’s sense of personal power and self-worth.

It is also an overall cleansing stone, helping to purify not only the physical body, but the subtle bodies as well, bringing balance and connection with the higher realms. Natural Citrine does not hold or accumulate negative energy, but rather transmutes, dissipates, and grounds it, making it extremely protective for one’s environment.

Geological Information

Citrine, a member of the quartz family, is a silicon dioxide mineral with a trigonal crystal system.  The golden color comes from the presence of iron and aluminum in its crystal structure. Heat, whether it happened while the quartz was growing in the earth’s crust, usually as a result of nearby volcanic activity, or treated by man, can change the color of quartz to various yellow hues.

Because Citrine is quartz that has had iron introduced during its growing period, you will find beautiful combinations when other minerals also find their way into the growth structure, such as with powerful Citrinated Smoky and Ametrine crystals.

Most of the Citrine on the market today is heat treated amethyst or smoky quartz and it is believed that the intensity of the yellow color is directly related to the amount of heat applied during the treatment process. There is natural Citrine from Brazil which is a lighter paler yellow and there is beautiful deep yellow Citrine from Africa.

*Warning* Citrine should be kept out of direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure can cause the color to be retaken by the Sun.

Works Well With...

Citrine works well with other stones that promote abundance and prosperity, such as Pyrite, Green Aventurine, and Tiger’s Eye. It is also believed to work well with Amethyst, as it is said to help transmute negative energies into positive ones.
