Orthoceras is used in meditation to increase feelings of stability and security. It can bring a sense of calm and balance, promoting a deep sense of inner peace, reducing stress and anxiety. This stone is also believed to promote creativity and encourage the pursuit of your passions and goals. In terms of physical healing properties, Orthoceras is thought to aid in the healing of bones, teeth and other hard tissues in the body.
Orthoceras is a fossilized marine animal that lived over 400 million years ago, during the Devonian period. It is a type of cephalopod, similar to modern-day squid or octopus. The name “Orthoceras” means “straight horn” in Greek, referring to the characteristic long, straight shells of the animal. When these creatures died, their shells were buried in sediment, where they fossilized over millions of years. These shells were made of calcium carbonate, and over time, they fossilized into a durable and beautiful stone. The resulting stones have a black, gray, or brown base color, with white or cream-colored spiral patterns.
Orthoceras works well with other grounding stones, such as Hematite and Smoky Quartz, to enhance their stabilizing properties. It can also be combined with other fossils, such as Ammonite and Trilobite, to create a powerful and dynamic energy field. Orthoceras is often paired with Clear Quartz to amplify its spiritual properties and to facilitate spiritual growth and transformation. In meditation, Orthoceras can be used in combination with other calming stones, such as Amethyst and Sodalite, to help one access deeper states of consciousness.
