Selenite is considered a powerful cleansing crystal that can help remove negative energy from your space and your body. It is often used to cleanse and charge other crystals as well. Selenite is also said to help enhance intuition and psychic abilities, making it a popular crystal for those interested in spiritual and psychic development. It has a calming and soothing effect on the mind and body and is often used to help relieve stress and anxiety, as it promotes feelings of inner peace and tranquility. Selenite is also believed to have a powerful connection to the divine and can help bring you closer to your spiritual self.
Selenite is a wonderful conductor of energy, making it the perfect healing wand and charging plate. Use the wands to clear blocks in the auric field, the meridians, and in the physical body. Align the body’s energy centers by laying a Selenite wand or rod down the back of the spine. When you are in alignment physically and spiritually, and energy can flow more freely and swiftly, you can find more clarity; bringing expansive thinking and heightened self awareness.
It is a soft stone and prone to scratches and breakage. Selenite is water soluble and getting it wet will eventually cause it damage. Rather than washing it, wipe it with a soft cloth when it needs to be dusted. To energetically clear or cleanse Selenite to its natural frequency, we recommend leaving your Selenite out in the full moonlight.
Ancient Greeks named the stone Selenite from their word meaning “moon” which is derived from the name of the Moon Goddess Selene, who was greatly worshiped in Greek mythology. Other lore says that God had to take a deep breath while making all of creation, producing divine light which was then shattered as he exhaled – these pieces of shattered divine light are said to be Selenite. Ancient Mesopotamian civilizations also used Selenite in different rituals to ward off evil. Some cultures believed that hanging a piece of Selenite on a fruit tree would help the fruit grow at a higher rate. Appearing as clear as glass when it forms with no impurities, Selenite was sometimes used as windowpanes, as found in a 5th century church in Rome.
Selenite is a hydrous calcium sulfate mineral and the crystallized form of gypsum, chemical composition of CaSO4 · 2H2O. It is usually transparent and colorless, forming tabular crystals with striations running along its length. Selenite is an evaporate, typically forming in clay beds or around hot springs. It may form with inclusions such as interior and exterior druse. The presence of other minerals may cause Selenite to form in colors such as peach, orange, gold or blue. The Cave of Crystals in Naica, Mexico is home to some of the largest Selenite crystals in the world, over 36 ft long, weighing almost 55 tons.
Selenite works well with other high vibration crystals, such as Clear Quartz, Amethyst, and Moldavite. It can also be used in combination with grounding stones, such as Black Tourmaline or Hematite, to balance its energy and provide grounding during spiritual work. Selenite can also be placed in a room or on an altar to enhance the energy and promote a peaceful and serene environment.
