Metaphysical & Spiritual Properties

Tektite is said to have a powerful, high-vibrational energy that stimulates spiritual growth and facilitates communication with other dimensions. It helps to awaken and activate the Third Eye and Crown chakras, enhancing intuition, psychic abilities, and spiritual awareness. It is thought to enhance intuition and psychic abilities, as well as aid in astral travel and lucid dreaming. Tektite is also believed to provide a protective energy and can help remove energy blockages. It is said to help one release negative thought patterns and overcome fear.  It is believed that Tektites carry the energies of a number of extraterrestrial streams of communication and information connecting you to otherworldly energies.

History & Folklore

Tektites have been found in archaeological sites dating back to the Stone Age and were used in the creation of tools and weapons. More than 2000 years ago, the Chinese referred to tektites as Inkstone of the Thundergod. Australian aborigines refer to them as Maban, or ‘magic’ and believe that finding one brings good luck. In India, they are known as the Sacred Gem of Krishna.

Geological Information

Tektites are natural glass rocks formed from terrestrial debris ejected during meteorite impacts. They are typically black or brown and have a smooth, rounded shape. The intense heat and pressure from the impact causes the surrounding material to melt and then rapidly cool, forming the glassy tektites. They can be found in strewnfields which are areas where the debris from a meteorite impact has been scattered by the force of the impact. It is typically a widely dispersed pattern of fragments, which can include not only the meteorite itself but also various types of impact-related materials such as shocked minerals, and impact breccias. Tektites are not true minerals because they are not crystalline but are instead classified as mineraloids. They have a unique chemical composition and are primarily composed of silica, with smaller amounts of aluminum, iron, and other elements.

Works Well With...

Tektite works well with other stones that aid in spiritual growth and transformation, such as Amethyst, Clear Quartz, and Moldavite (another tektite). It can also be paired with grounding stones like Black Tourmaline or Hematite to balance its high energy.
