Metaphysical & Spiritual Properties

Gold Tiger’s Eye is said to be a stone of protection, helping to guard against negative energies and psychic attacks. It is also believed to be a stone of courage and confidence, helping to boost self-esteem and promote a positive self-image.  It is also believed to be a stone of manifestation, helping to attract abundance and prosperity into one’s life.

Geological Information

Tiger’s Eye is a member of the quartz family and is formed when silica replaces the mineral crocidolite, a blue asbestos mineral, with quartz. This replacement process gives the stone chatoyancy meaning the fibers reflect in a wavering silky luster that can resemble the eye of a cat. The word Chatoyant comes from the French meaning “cat’s eye”. Iron oxide gives the stone its characteristic golden-brown color.  The stone is often found in riverbeds and other alluvial deposits but can also be mined from solid rock.

Works Well With...

Tiger’s Eye works well with other grounding stones such as Hematite and Black Tourmaline. It is also beneficial when used with stones that enhance intuition and psychic abilities such as Amethyst and Labradorite. Tiger’s Eye can be combined with Carnelian to boost creativity and manifestation. It can also be used in combination with stones such as Citrine, Pyrite, and Hematite to boost abundance and prosperity. When used in meditation, Gold Tiger’s Eye can be paired with Selenite or other high-vibration stones to enhance its calming and grounding effects.

Varieties of Tiger’s Eye

Red Tiger's Eye

The presence of iron oxide within the quartz gives Red Tiger’s Eye its distinctive red-brown color and chatoyancy, or “cat’s eye” effect. Red Tiger’s Eye has been used as a money and good luck charm. It is said to help boost clairvoyance. It is said to bring compassion and empathy in considering the needs of those close to us, as well as our own needs. It is a useful stone for rejuvenating the blood and restoring natural rhythms to a woman’s body.

Blue Tiger

Blue Tiger's Eye

It is a pseudomorph of quartz that forms when crocidolite is replaced by quartz, and then further altered through the inclusion of iron oxide. Also called Hawk’s Eye, Blue Tiger’s Eye supports one to see the bigger picture and understand other perspectives. It is an excellent tool for astral travel and clairvoyance. It is thought to help protect one against the “evil eye.”
