Apache Tears are a form of obsidian. Obsidian is a silica-rich, glassy volcanic rock with a water content of less than one percent. They are native to Mexico and the southwest USA. In general obsidian is grounding and used for protection from negative energies breaking down the barriers that hold one back and can counter negative thinking.
It is said that the dark tears of grief that the Apache women shed along the Trail of Tears solidified into this droplet-shaped stone.
