While Agate has the same chemical composition as Quartz, it has a microcrystalline structure, instead of forming whole crystals. Agate is a name given to a variety of banded chalcedony, a mineral of the quartz group. It is predominantly white, with layers of creamy browns, blacks and grays.
Turritella Agate is immediately recognizable by the small fossilized creatures found within its structure. Its color is usually a deep earthy brown.
