Walking Between Worlds: An Introduction to Shamanism

Step into the ancient and powerful practice of shamanic journeying, a time-honored technique for deepening your spiritual connection and awakening inner wisdom. In this experiential class, we’ll explore the roots of traditional shamanism and how it has evolved into what is now called core shamanism, making these practices accessible and relevant for today’s spiritual seekers..

Through the steady rhythm of the drum, you’ll learn to enter an altered state of consciousness and journey beyond the veil to meet compassionate helping spirits who are always nearby, ready to offer guidance, healing, and insight. Together, we’ll explore how shamanic work can enhance your current spiritual practices, reweave your bond with the natural world, and offer fresh perspective on wellness and the deeper meanings of illness.

We’ll also discuss how journeying can become a trusted companion in your daily life—supporting your intuition, decision-making, and healing path. Whether you’re new to this work or looking to deepen your practice, this class offers a grounded, respectful space to begin or continue your walk between worlds.

About David Beck

David Beck Bio Photo, Shamanic Journeying with David Beck at DreamingGoddess.com

David Beck has been walking the path of shamanism for over 25 years, guiding others with wisdom, heart, and a deep reverence for the natural world. A lifelong naturalist rooted in New York’s Hudson Valley, David weaves together his extensive knowledge of local Native American culture, wilderness survival, tracking, and orienteering to help people reconnect with the land and their own innate instincts.

For over two decades, he has shared these teachings with both children and adults, igniting curiosity and respect for the wild places—both within and around us. His passion lies in helping others remember their place in nature and rekindle the ancient connection between human and earth.

David is also a musician and storyteller, having sung with and composed original songs for the Nimham Mountain Singers, a Unity Drum that honors Native American traditions through music and community. His work is a bridge—between generations, between worlds, and between the seen and unseen.

A Note From David

“In our modern world, there seems to be so much conflict between people regarding spiritual beliefs. I believe that the technique of journeying holds one key to this problem. I have journeyed with people from many different backgrounds and although we “see” different things, we share a common bond. If the concept of journeying was used as a way for all faiths to deepen their spiritual connections, it would open an area of shared experience that each could understand. This would allow them to meet in a place of equality and possible even open their perspective. I hope that our world can come together and if journeying can be a bridge, I say we start building it today.”
