Metaphysical & Spiritual Properties

Shiva Eye is not a stone but a shell. It is the operculum of the Turbo snail found in the South Seas of North Australia.  They are like trap doors, little snail doors. Its primary purpose is to seal and close the aperture (the opening) of the snail’s shell when the soft and vulnerable parts of the snail are retracted inside the shell. When the snail retreats into its shell for protection or during periods of rest, the operculum acts as a protective cover. It serves to seal off the entrance to the shell, providing an additional layer of defense against potential predators and environmental stressors. This protective mechanism helps keep the snail safe from external threats. Based on its purpose and function I would say that these shells will support you in feeling safe and secure.  It is said to protect your wealth and bring good luck. The shell itself has been used for centuries by fishermen and sailors, who called it “Mermaid’s Money,” as a protective talisman and symbol of good luck and prosperity.

The spiral on the shell is the life line of the creature who inhabited it.  That is powerfully significant to behold and speaks to the golden ratio and the Fibonacci sequence.  Meditating on it’s beautiful spiral can bring a sense of peace, calm and balance to your being. Allow your finger to trace the spiral, clockwise, allowing the flow of energy to slow you down and bring you further into a state of wellness.

Geological Information

The Shiva Eye, is not a stone but organic material, is the “trap door” or operculum of a sea snail found in the South Seas of North Australia. It is made up of two minerals, calcium carbonate and aragonite, which form in the shell as it grows. The outer layer of the shell is a smooth, glossy surface, while the inner layer is a natural spiral, representing the lifeline of the creature that once occupied this shell, it is also the Golden Ratio.
