The Raven is a dark, mysterious and magical bird, with ties to witchcraft and the dark Goddess, Hecate. Hecate is the mother of witchcraft~ an immensely powerful, ancient Crone Goddess, presiding over the underworld and the night. Hecate has been linked to black animals such as ravens, crows and dogs. Keys and lit torches also represent this Goddess, as she rules the Crossroads and carries a lit torch to guide her through the darkness. When a Raven appears to you, it could be a sign from Hecate. Her energy is prevalent during the Autumn, and can be felt strongly during New Moons and on Samhain. ⁣
