Usually found clear, once Vivianite is exposed to the environment it will oxidize and become dark blue, or blue-green. Light furthers this oxidation process. Vivianite is certainly not a stable mineral and as such, it shouldn’t be kept on display or in any place where light will hit it as it will darken to an almost black color. Vivianite was discovered in England in 1817.
